Take Action
- Follow Freedom to Work on Facebook and Twitter and we will update you on future opportunities to make your voice heard in favor of workplace fairness and the freedom to work for LGBT Americans.
- Join the Freedom to Work Speakers Bureau. We believe in the power of personal stories to change hearts and minds and grow support for workplace equality and the EQUALITY ACT. That’s why we’re compiling the experiences of supporters across the country to help educate the American public about why LGBT Americans need the basic workplace protections that the EQUALITY ACT provides. If you have a story of workplace discrimination to share, please write to us at info@freedomtowork.org
- Send an E-Mail to your U.S. Senators and U.S. Representative telling them:
“I am a resident of your state and I believe that all Americans should be guaranteed the freedom to work without fear of harassment or discrimination on the job because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. I am writing to ask that you co-sponsor and vote for the EQUALITY ACT, which is H.R. 3185 in the U.S. House and S. 1858 in the U.S. Senate.”
Provide your name and mailing address at the bottom of your email so that they know you are their constituent.
You can find email information for your Congressperson in the U.S. House of Representatives here.
You can find email information for both of your Senators in the U.S. Senate here.
After sending the e-mails, you can also follow up via telephone by calling the Capitol Hill Switchboard: 202.224.3121.
Ask the operator to patch your call through to the office of your Congressperson, and politely deliver the same pro-ENDA message from above. Then, after that conversation ends, call back to the Capitol Hill Switchboard and ask for the offices of your U.S. Senators and deliver the same message in support of the EQUALITY ACT.
